The Stage Theater at the Potsdamer Platz in the heart of Berlin is one of the capital’s most visited highlights. With more than 1,800 seats, it is also one of the largest of its kind in Germany. Designed by none other than star architect Renzo Piano, the Stage Theater provides a worthy showcase for the high-quality BESISTA® tension rod system and compression rods pioneered by Dr.-Ing. Anton-Peter Betschart.

At this venue, movie premieres and film festivals are held on a regular basis, offering a varied and entertaining cultural programme. Highlights include world-renowned musicals such as “The Hunchback of Notre Dame” (“Der Glöckner von Notre Dame”), “Cats” and “Mamma Mia”.

The BESISTA® tension rod system for the facade construction and steel construction takes centre stage, as it were, in the fascinating architectural design of the cinema and performance venue: the hot-dip galvanized tension rods with galvanized rod threads and cover sleeves provide the rear tensioning for the glass facade, which reaches a height of 35 metres.

All galleries and the monumental staircase, spanning six levels and leading up to the balconies, are supported by BESISTA® tension rod systems. These are suspended from giant trussed girders, which in turn are braced by BESISTA® tension bar systems.
