The gigantic depot of Stuttgarter Straßenbahnen (SBB) AG (Stuttgart’s tram service company), which doubles up as the main workshop, houses around half of the city’s buses. The increasing use of hybrid engines in the local buses has put Stuttgart at the cutting edge of developments in electromobility.

The colossal roof is supported by BESISTA® tension bar systems, which, acting as pylon stays, assume the key structural function. The timeless design of the tension bar systems, comprising tension bars and rod anchors / fork heads, lends the steel structure its immense visual appeal.

The unique installation benefits offered by the patented internal faces of the rod anchors / fork heads, which accommodate high gusset plate tolerances, were one of the main reasons for specifying BESISTA® systems.
